Lets show an example of what this officer was attempting to claim he could do:
Visually observe the vehicle and determine it was speeding BEYOND 1550 feet:
lets zoom in a bit to what the naked eye may see:
Now lets see how big the simulated beam is in the Stalker HUD at 1:1 magnification (zoomed in 10-20 times with digital video)
Now lets go to 1500 feet and check things out:
This is the distance he had finished his read by....1550 feet
So lets see (an example) where he visually looked at the target..........
and I doubt he pulled it all together 100 feet FURTHER out:
Lets say you're going 88 feet per second @ 60 MPH, he's got ~ 3 seconds to visualize and target the vehicle THEN obtain a reading....... Hmmmmm
of course, if your going faster, then he has less time.
I offer my opinion why accurate targeting beyond 1,000 feet just isn't realistic OR ACCURATE. :-)
