Thanks for all the replies and input! The people have spoken, and the heads must be moved. As evidenced by the long post and hasty epoxying, I tend to overdo it a bit sometimes

. As requested, some measurements to ponder.
I went at it initially trying for the cleanest, most concealed install. The yellow bars location shouldn't be too much trouble as far as mounting, that piece is still plastic. Pink bars location would require some creative dremeling (I don't want to use those grille clamp mounts), and doesn't (to me) seem to gain me much, if anything. Thoughts on yellow bar spots?
Thanks for the rear plate suggestion, Lucky. Ohio unfortunately doesn't offer a plate like that. Also, the rear head casts an upside down V-shaped shadow right down the center of the plate when it's at the top, such that there's a good 6" of plate at the bottom that isn't illuminated. The only solution I can think of is to get some maybe 1/2" or 3/4" nylon spacers between the plate and the rear head bracket holes to raise the head up off the plate a bit and allow the light to pass behind it. I actually think I'll give that a shot and see how it works.
I will be slathering on some Veil when it becomes available.
Thanks again for the kind words and input.
