Default where to install sensors on E46 M3?

red or green location? looking at the PASS system, so mounting depth on the rear might be an issue?

tight fit?

i'm thinking green location is best? or other?

I agree with the green, although, forget about the PASS, you'll need to get the ultraslim LI for the rear unless you want to cut into the body or don't mind it sticking out.

PASS won't fit in the kidneys without cutting. that setup would require LIs
which makes them even more tempting

here are rear reflectivity shots that the heads have to deal with:

this is before i photocopied the rear plate

and after

so the main concern is making sure the rear heads have the tails covered

A photocopied Tag! That's very unique and a GREAT idea! Unfortunately, here in Florida, beginning June 1, 2008, there is a new Law that allows LEO to confiscate your tag if it is covered, has any modification such as a PBA sticker or Sheriff's badge or any addition to it and leave you on the side of the road. It's a great thought though!

As to the install, as close on the vertical and horizontal axis to the headlights as possible up front and as for the rear, well, with your paper plate ( ) you would want to be as close to the taillights as possible but with an LI Slim sensor set-up mounted using the supplied, slim sensor aluminum mounting brackets attached to the license plate area will do just fine.!

For the front mount: The first picture with the green dot. You can mount the sensor under the bumper to the edge horizontally make sure you have else 18" coverage from the sensors to the headlights and front plate.

For the Rear Mount: The third picture with the green dot.

I have a 2000 BMW 323i and I mounted my sensor for the front under the bumper make sure the sensors are align straight ahead and level to the road.

I hope you know that 18" rule is primarily for LED type jammers. Depending on what countermeasure you are using, being within 18" still may not help you.
