Default 2009 Nissan Versa HatchBack (black little dots)

If I place the my radar detector behind the dots, would I lose radar or laser performance.

Radar - You won't know until you test it.

Laser - It doesn't matter if it affects performance or not.

Go to a grocery store with K-band automatic doors. Park facing the doors. Place the RD where it has a clear view (no black dots) and see what signal strength you get. Move the RD behind the dots and see if the signal strength changes. If it stays the same, you're good to go.

Look for an automatic door opener. Once your detector alerts place it behind the dots and see if the signal strength drops. OR, a better way to test would be to find a speed sign and do a bunch of runs against it. Average the distance of the alerts behind the dots and with a clear view of the road.

Laser detection with any RD is pointless because the false sense of security you may get with a laser detector far over weighs the 1% chance of being saved with even the most sensitive laser detector (the V1).

Go find a signal from an automatic door opener. Park across the street, facing the signal. Check the signal strength behind the dots, and then below the dots. If it changes, they make a difference. If it doesn't, they don't.
