Manufacturer Re-engagement
When Roy, Leon (of Blinder), and myself originally created this forum in 2004, our vision was to build a thriving community that connected enthusiasts with other enthusiasts and with the manufacturers directly so the we all could benefit as a one unified group.
However, over the years this healthy dynamic was undermined when the community here became too enthusiast-concentric. Individual members allowed themselves to become "pawns" and shills of certain vendors who were in favor at any given time and teamed up to undermine other vendors. Unfortunately this involved some of the various management of this forum over the years. It's an unpleasant history and the drama that unfolded can be found buried deep in the posts of this forum (and other forums). It's cancerous.
Unfortunately what ultimately happens is that the general membership wanes and potential new members avoid joining altogether and eventually the community slowly devolves into an echo chamber of a very small group of individuals and becomes no longer viable. This happened here on any number of occasions.
I bring this unpleasantness up not just to be a sober reminder of the past, but to clearly chart a new path (vision) forward for RD.net.
I will be personally working on reconnecting the manufacturers--of the products that we all have come to trust--so that the members of our community can have direct and unfiltered productive communication and customer support. This will benefit everyone in our community, including the vendors that make the products that we use and comprise an essential part of it. That was the original vision that the three of us shared and so it shall be again.
As the mfrs come back online here please welcome them and please treat them with respect.
