They have a new no plate cover law here. We have white background with red letters. It really gets dark quick when I apply the material. I suspect the darker the better but there is a grey area when it gets too dark I might get hasseled. Does a light coat work? I heard them talking about thier ladar gun (il State Police) while they were on 5 car ladar trap over the weekend and said 2000 feet is all they usually can get. FYI

i photocopied my plate. looks real...the ownly downfall is that it bends..and the laminate edge around the paper. you could also go to http://www.cr8apl8.com/ and get a non-reflective plate there.

Just buy a LaserShield! NY has a no plate coverr rule and i easily can get away with a laser sheild...You are far more likely to get question with a plate with VEIL and just a plate with a Lasershield

Here are some pics for you to decide
Here are the pics:
1.Plate with no VEIL, and NO plate cover

3. Thick coat of VEIL vs NON-Veiled plate(i didn't use the plate cover with plate like that)

They can make me my special ham radio plates. Do you think these non reflective plates are better than the standard plate with veil or about the same? I saw a few video's where they used veil but never saw a comparision before and after in an actual situation.

i would rather just get the fake plates. veil on plates make them look like you have a smoked cover on them.

I got my replaca plate today. The people were easy to work with and the product arrived promptly. The plate is thin plastic and would not take much for a june bug to blast through it at 70+ MPH. I had to use the plastic cover it came with to help protect it which is illegal in itself in Illinois. I also put a thin coat of VEIL on the inside of the clear cover plate.

Are the CR8APL8 Plates legal to use on your car?

We have the same law here in Wa State no covers allowed! You should just get a lasershield from Roy, many coppers have seen mine and never said a thing (they mainly crack down on tinted covers)! From a distance you can't even tell the LS is even on.. 8)

Lasershield makes my plate alittle fuzzy looking from about 12' + but you can still read the plate. I have not been pulled over for having it and I drive in IL all the time.

Agree but most coppers are a little further away as your passing em', I think he'd be fine. Beside if you do get pulled over for it more than likely it would be a warning, if you do get a ticket it won't be a moving infraction.
