I am thinking of buying Veil and a lasershield. I have a 2006 Grand Vitara.
I notice the front of the SUV has some chrome around it. Would that need to be veiled?
Would putting veil on the lasershield make the plate too dark to see? I have a NY plate which seems to be more reflective than other states' plates.
Thanks.

It's been shown to work - but the results may not be aesthetically acceptable for you.
If you search around a bit, you'll see some photos of such applications. They're rarely, if ever, as "clean" as they can be on headlights..... :(

^ Potentially. But this is hard to say. A single coat should not cause undue concern - probably will just look like a rather dirty license plate.
Your "VEIL'ed chrome" should contribute to the overall "dirty" look, and hopefully help you evade closer enforcement scrutiny, especially if such covers are not legal in your area.
You'll have to weigh these factors against each other.

since ny pretty much uses LTI exclusive you are much better off with a jammer
and VEIL on NY plates is very noticeable

^ There you go, direct from a NYer - listen to the man. :)

computersoc,
Going with a lasershield would be my recommendation for the front plate.
Veil impedes the performance of all laser guns, the lti included.
...Whether you decide to go active or not.
I am pretty familiar with upstate NY. They've always been tough in the greater glens falls area on 87.

Not completely exclusively, I was hit with PL III on the belt.
Would you say LTI mostly upstate?

I don't plan on getting a jammer yet, but would the use of Veil on the headlights, nothing on the chrome, and laser shield on the plate (with no Veil on it) probably help some?

Add a car bra and you might have a chance, though I don't know for sure.

That sounds like a plan. The bra would certainly help as well.

^ Every bit helps, but again, exactly how much help will determine a lot on the precise engagement circumstances, as well as enforcement hardware.
It's far from optimal, far from "best odds," but any help is always better than none.

For those in NY, does anyone run without a front plate?
I have a black car with a black bra and pop up headlights with a lasersheilded plate, but I most likely still get punchthrough with the plate, and I don't have the money for a jammer.
Do you think I should run without a plate?

That's the silliest thing I've ever heard. The front plate is mandatory in NY.
