They are claiming it is good up to 3700ft. The long news report aired showes a 2700ft @ 65 MPH citation being issued.

woah. 2700FT IMO is rediculous, and the victim should have no problem getting out of that ticket. that's just nonsense.

They also stated in the story that "a recent study found that only four percent of drivers abide by the 50 mile per hour speed limit." Really? Well all that tells me is that a fair number of the remaining 96% of drivers on that road are likely driving at a safe and prudent speed. Has anyone in Galveston heard of the 85th percentile?

Actually A Lti Utralyte of like the one he was shooting which looked to be an LRB due to the DARK blue coloring... is rated at 3,280ft so shooting 3,700ft could maybe be done, as some lidars will allow a little overage to be shown over that max eff. range. example my pro 2 has shown me ranges or 5,000ft + but not much more like 5,100ft i have shot people before off overpasses... although this is RARE! I have shot an utralyte well over 3,000ft before if that isn't beleived check out our invational video footage from the day from last year! I clocked jimbonzz well over 3,000ft out it was actually just over 3,100ft!
The LRB they are shooting is 3,280ft max effective.
My pro 2 has a greater targeting distance with 4,500ft max effective.. now remember this is what it is said to be able to do i have gotten more out of my pro 2 just above 5,000ft and 5,100ft that is what i've seen for max effective thus far on a pro 2.
Hope was of some help!
If it was an ultralyte 100lr or 200lr the color would be aqua sea blue not darker navy type blue just so everybody knows!!
The targeting distance are the same max eff for all three guns. The only differences are this.
LRB like they are shooting Jimbonzz has one nice gun! Menu's are simplified it also has weather mode! Distance between is not offered on this model!
100lr more complicated menus, distance between vehicle modes option..
200lr more complicated menus, survey option... distance between is not offered as an option on this model!

jeex can you even make out a vehicle at 3700ft??
At that distance the beam is 11ft wide??
How in god's name can you honestly know which vehicle is returning the beam??

It's just a sales pitch. An officer won't give you a ticket at that footage, unless it's a sheriff on an open country road.
Anything past 2000 feet it's hard to make out what car it is you're even targeting.
