original mounting point idea, it wouldve worked prefectly, the gril supported it, but the bumper attachment bracket didnt

Was it hard to get the grill off?

well not really, I had to take off the air diverter plate (plastic piece on top and around the latch). . . that was 4 clips, easy, then 2 hex screws conecting the top of the bumper and the grill mounting bracket to the car, then it was a matter of peeling up the grill and undoung the screws holding the grill on from the back, I believe there were 7 back there, pop off 2 tabs locking it in with a flat head and off it went

so no real difficult thing, but if you dont know what youre doing you could break something, I almost overlooked the clips and may have broken them clean off had I not realized to pop um out with the screwdriver :(

Awesome install. I will probably do the exact same install on my Si.

Is your 9500i hardwired? Using the smart cord and the left-side power port on the 9500i makes the coiled wire always touching or almost touching if your hand is on the wheel. Fortunately, my right hand is almost always on the shifter, so I don't have to worry about it as much, but it is annoying and an eye-sore at the very least.

The main reason I ask is because I am not sure where to put the direct wire mute button myself. I was thinking in the little compartment to the right of the lighter socket, sticking it to the top part so its almost in line with the lighter port but we'll see how wiring goes. I want it to be as sleek and unnoticeable as it can possibly be. If you have pics of that as well, I'd love to see 'em.

I really like your ZR4 spot. The little compartment I previously mentioned, was it able to fit in there? Just curious. That's where I was thinking to mount it. :D

I love seeing people doing awesome jobs in the same car as me! :p

yes it is hardwired, the way I got around the whole wire in my face deal is by first wrapping the wire on the RVM before going to the RD< that put the cord at about the factory stereo volume knob

ill post a shot of it for ya later

and as for the ZR4 display box, I didnt bother routing it there because the remote mute for the RD is already there, and I intended to interface to the 9500 anyways, so why waste effort now

Very nice install! That should be brilliant when interfaced with the 9500i.

Did you just mount the ZR4 module with Double sided mounting tape (3M) or otherwise?

Can you post a picture of the back of your car? I might be able to help you figure out how to route the rear head cabling into the trunk. :)

yeah the display is stuck on there with the double-sided tape that they provided with the kit

heres just a pic I found out there,

http://i335.photobucket.com/albums/m463/07civicsiracer/IMG_0168.jpg

I was poking around back there and theres a little phillips head clip thing back there that looks like it might go inside, right between the plate lights. . . I think it might be ther for some kind of optional rear-view camera, or something that might be offered on the canadian models (the only other country to get civic coupes), ill try poping it off and seeing where it leads, since the shifter head already has a handy grommet on it it shouldnt be too big a problem of leaks :)

Ugh, this kills me... Looks like the HDTV might be delayed another payday... I'll have to pick this up next week.

I wanted to wait till GOL '08 but I don't know.. this is just too awesome of an integration with my new 9500ix and all. I have a good feeling about the ZR4's even though RadarRoy isn't too impressed by it over the ZR3. Ah well, if it doesn't work out, I'll just ebay/CL it. :p

Actually, I think Roy is pretty keen on the Zr4 esp over the Zr3. The real weakness is the Stalkers.

seems like stalker and prolite are its downfalls, but this was done on a white pick-up truck, its big and bright, so its really a worst case scenario type deal

and if I recall from my old days Veil kills stalker, so thats an easy fix. . . thats unless theres some firmware update on them that I missed in my 6 month absence

Music to my ears. Actually, I have yet to get a real laser alert here in NC (at least not that I know of but they were all from the V1 which I typically regarded as a false). The reasoning for buying the ZR4 is more like 20% prevention, 80% love of technology (especially ones that integrate together). :D

Thanks! You're like my guinea pig for this in a way, once you get it all set up (which you pretty much have except for the rear sensor), then I'll gladly follow suit! Yeah, I agree with the worst case scenario, my car is much smaller.. darker (black), and more curved than a pickup. Veil G4 is in production so that'll be my next step. Escort is about to make another 450$ off me next week.

OK I found my entry point, screw/clip I mentioned in the trunk between the plate lights, it does have hole that does lead inside, itll require a little bit of boring out, but the fact is theres a hole already there that leads inside right above the plate, I plant the jammer head on the lower bolt points, run the cable behind the plate and into the hole. . . now its getting my lazy ass on the drill thats the problem
