Not in GA, they have to be visible from 500' in GA. Most shots tend to be well over 1000'.

I was going Faster I was told to slow down when going faster you clear more road which makes it harder to hold the gun in one place because you cover more road

The ZR4's served me well up to the time I sold them. Never had any problems with LEO's, namely the NY State Police.:D Having the setup above also made a HUGE difference in reducing my IR signature!!!

Just because there isn't a specific statute in GA that makes your zr3s illegal, does not mean we are immune to legislature. I can assure you this: doing what you described above is the #1 way to make this state join the other 13 states in banning certain devices. You think this cop didn't go back and say something to his department? You think he won't think to tell this story with his traffic enforcement buddies in the lockerroom/bar/lounge/whatever.

This behavior is senseless. What do you gain by JTG'ing a cop? Nothing.

And yet, the potential to lose so much is horrible. He could easily pull you over, inspect your car, and give you a hard time. Sure, if GA became an illegal state, running these devices could easily ruin your day. It IS NOT HARD to tell when you're being "transponded" when you shoot cars all day and get instant readings. Your car is not a black hole, it is not special, and the cop has shot TONS just like it and got instantaneous readings. You think he doesn't KNOW 100% YOU are doing something to prevent him from getting a reading when you DRIVE BY 4 TIMES ?

Let me tell you this story:
While driving on 129 the other day (I'm in GA) I came across a Sheriff shooting some kind of laser (not sure which, as I slowed to PSL and shut it off in the middle of GUN ID). Probably a PL3.

I was doing 75 or 80 in a 55 PSL zone. It only took me about 2 seconds, MAX, to drop to speed and shut off the transponders. And yet, when I went by him, he was banging on his gun, and giving me a very puzzled look.

Just as my taillights were about to be out of his sight, he shot me in the rear to make sure I hadn't sped back up and he couldn't stop me.

The point is, you need to stop acting so irresponsibly. Failure to do so will ruin your time, our time, and a small niche market. every single transponder user needs to use their equipment properly. failure to do so puts our favorite hobby and our driving records at risk.

Please, please, be responsible.

One of the guys on a job i was on last week got an $1100 fine for throwing a cigarette butt out the window , it happens.

Keep JTG'ing and see how many more times you get pulled out of the car for a few hours to answer stupid questions or worse. Ask Outrun about the $6K he's out for some BS charge. I heard how you whined over being questioned for a few hours. Imagine overnight in jail and spending thousands of your own $ for a trumped up charge you could have avoided with some common sense.

If your excuse for JTG all the time is your mute button is broken, get it fixed, can't cost more than $99 and that's nothing to you.

When I was young, I was "pulled out and searched" too. Only, because I was young, and an idiot, I consented to the search on the side of a highway in rural alabama and it lasted an hour. Nothing came of it, they tore my car apart etc etc. The point is, at some point, I agreed for them to "take a quick look see around." I was 17, headed to Panama City. Either way, we don't want you JTG'ing. It's just not smart. You can't just go around JTG every cop because you believe you were violated by another officer. Every single cop is different. Let me reiterate. every single cop is different. Yes, all will act the same in certain situations (they see you murder someone, they arrest you). But we're talking about traffic enforcement here. A cop can cut you a break because you remind him of his best buddy from college, or he can slam you with a window tint ticket because you remind him of the guy who stole his lunch money in jr. high. Whether you like it or not, it is what it is. You bring unwanted attention to you, us, the community, jammer manufacturers, etc. What if jammers were illegal from the beginning? When someone acts irresponsibly they usually end up getting one sooner or later. When it comes somehow I have the feeling you'll be here whining about how the LEO was so unfair and it was not warranted. You don't seem to understand that what everyone is telling you (notice you are the only one here defending the practice, while many have told you how wrong it is) is for your own good. There's absolutely nothing to be gained by JTG on a LEO.

What's better, to get over and have the person know you got over on them, or get over on them and they don't have a clue. I personally think the latter of the two.

You say you have had your share of unfair tickets, if you continue on this path you are going to get more. If a LEO wants to give you a ticket, he does not need much of a reason to give you one. There's thousands of laws on the books, I'm sure we are all in violation of something if they look hard enough. You are just giving them a reason to look hard.

The advice being given is good advice. I've been burned by a cop, but a mature person learns from it, puts the bruised ego on the shelf and doesn't go looking for trouble because of it. I hope the people you hang with aren't so shallow that things like JTGing the LEOs impresses them, because I doubt it impresses any one here.

Either way, maybe its time to put the ego in check about the cops, show a little humility around them no matter how much you dislike them, keep yourself out of trouble, and keep both the CMs and yourself out of the spotlight? If nothing else, you might actually get to know some of the folks here in the Georgia area long enough to become friends with them... but that this point frankly I wouldn't be surprised if many of them want to exclude you.

I watched some YT vids of abusive cops and it made my blood boil! :badputer:


It brought back a "few" bad memories. It changes a person to go through bad cop experience like that...I can understand. In my younger days (when I had long hair) the NY cops were always giving me $#!+ for nothing. And in those days there was "some" recourse for complaining about a "public servants" behavior, and most of them knew it. I went down that road. Even then, I would not do as you have done (and I guess will do again). Today they would appear to have unlimited power and no discipline. The smart thing to do is eat crow on the road no matter how much you are steaming (low profile...non-argumentative...respectful as you can be...do not open your mouth more than you need to...be quick to answer questions with some thought...do not volunteer information...even though they don't deserve it, let them know they have a tough job...YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW THEY BECOME MUCH NICER GUYS...hard to do, but you win overall), and fight the battle in city hall or state legislation. You can't win the battle on the roadway.

I have friends who are cops. One is a real @$$#0[3 and is not mentally fit for the job (not a friend...just a guy I sometimes talk to on the radio), but most are good guys. They do view life different from the rest of us as they face the worst humans have to offer. People on drugs everywhere. I don't know who would want that job. Benefits?...maybe. Some are drawn to the power, and not civil service. But when you ramp up the situation, you loose...not them. They have every resource at their disposal...you don't. And now they have a torture device they can use (abuse) on you called a taser. It sucks! I can't even stand to watch the show COPS. Some real god complex stuff going on there. But the only way to effect change is to get politically active, not JTFG over and over.

Be glad we can have countermeasures in our cars to know where the cops are! (the main reason I have detection devices) That is a good thing, right? But keep pushing it and we will all loose that ability. Do you really want that?

Oh...and the MUTE button 2X "shift off" push only works if you hold the button a little longer on each push, but it does work. I think the micro-P is busy doing everything it can to help you fight the laser, so maybe it needs longer presses to get it's attention from that.
