I know I'm going against the odds here with a BIG white Tahoe but... will this work? either LI or M47's which will work best? Do I need to go quad in the front? if so, where? will HI LI work with just 2 heads in the front?

Also veil the grill and HLs

current RD 9500ix

any thought would greatly be appreciated

LI. The red mounting positions that you highlighted are perfect.

Do I need to go quad in the front?

LI Dual will be just fine up front. I've tested the regular LI Dual on large, reflective vehicles such as yours and they've done quite well in testing. As for the rear, it will be a little harder to protect than the front so you may want to go HP LI.

Also veil the grill and HLs

Won't be necessary with the LI.

Sweet vehicle.

The rear will absolutely need either an Dual HP or four regular heads. Consequently, I'd go with the HP front and rear.

To be honest, I would prefer four regular heads front and four regular heads rear, but that entails buying two systems, which most won't go for. Price wouldn't be much different from a single HP Quad though.

okay, thank you very much! Not sure if I can spring for the LI HP quad but go big or go home. Does anyone know of any testing meets here in Indiana? Is there a place in the forum I can check for that? thanks for putting up with the newbie questions. It's a great forum, I learned a lot in the last week. A little knowledge will save a lot of cash!

For real. I cringe every time someone else finds out that the $150 they tried to save cost them a $300 dollar ticket. May as well get the painful wallet-emptying (and wife complaining) out of the way now rather than later!

Veil is always a good idea. And with that much real estate to cover, every little bit helps. But I agree with Snoopy, that you certainly won't absolutely need it with that vehicle. You don't have wide, wrap-around headlights, or poor mounting options that leave them vulnerable. Should you decided to go ahead and use it (again, always a good addition), I would first wait until you have the jammer thoroughly tested. That way, you know if you're really compensating for a vulnerability, or just adding another "in case" layer of defence.

I drive a white Ford F250 and with a regular LI dual in the front grill near the headlights, it was bullet proof against several different laser guns.
On the rear, I had the sensors in the gap between the tailgate and rear bumper which really put them too low; during testing I got PT (Punch Through) only 30% of the time against a PL3, LA and LZ1, but 100% of the time against a UL LRB, so I bought a second LI dual and put 2 more heads on the rear on the headache rack.
I've only had some "mild" testing done on the rear since then, but it was JFG on the rear 4/4 times with 4 rear heads.

Swamp, I confused. It's okay to run two seperate CPU's? did you put the new dual up front and the quad in the back then to keep them seperated? or can you run more that one cpu if it's the same mfg?

It basically two different systems that way, one front and one rear. It also has the advantage of being able to determine front and rear attacks this way.

ok, cool! thanks Cat4, makes sense. Does anyone test (meets) during the winter months here in the mid-west (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio)? thanks to everyone for the help!

well I have a LI dual (no $$$ for quads at this point, slush fund is low... note to self: add more heads later) on the way. What is the best way to get the wires through the fire wall. Things are pretty tight with the existing wire harnesses... make a new hole?

cheers!
