I just found a whistler 680 radar detector. Now I wonder if anyone has any info about this unit? Like say a manual... All I seen on the website is it gets only Ka 34.3 and no laser.

lol by the scuffs on the top of the case I think it was last used as a doorstop. It does turn on and beep and seems to work.

Thread title should of been:

'Got an old useless Whistler'

Hang on to it, might be worth something as an antique some day . LOL

Didn't see a manual, but found a little bit of info:

http://www.whistlergroup.com/de680.asp

The link says you can trade it in for a newer Whistler.

I have a few in my history box. They sold well in their day.

Unit appears to have suffered some water intrusion but still able detect radar sources. I opened it up to dry off the case and noticed no water on the circuit board. The real test will be when I put it up against a speed sign. Expect some lulz

You never know, it may surprise you. I found an old Trapshooter in my basement not too long ago, and it actually did pretty well against a K band speed sign.

It might do well considering this was before superwide Ka band. I won't know until monday or tuesday.

The info in the link states the unit wasn't manufactured by Whistler. Out of curiosity, I wonder who made it. Mike B?

It was manufactured for Whistler by a manufacturing partner.
