To figure out the actual frequencies my local LEO's are using without having an actual detector which displays them for me? I have the 3.872 V1 and I've noticed that I can pick up certain Ka frequencies no problem... but other times I have a lot of trouble. I'm thinking 35.5 is the tough one, but not sure. Maybe turning POP off will help?? Cant stand the detector with Ka guard off thats for sure =P. Anyways, is there a website that gives out the frequencies used by town/state? Thanks.
Btw... I'm up in whatcom county in WA state if anyone else lives in the area

If they are like most agencies they have a mix of equipment. Unless you know all the makes of the equipment they use it will be hard to determine the frequencies.

send me a pm of what band freq your rd went off to and I'll let you know what type of equipment they use. For example x band ka or k band.

Your on the right track. Research on the web, MPH Industries (33.8), Applied Concepts (34.7), Decatur Electronics and Kustom Signals (35.5) and look at the different models of radar units. Stalkers has black face cans, easy to notice. The only sure way is to look in the car and see the radar unit but there are a lot of hints to guess on. P.S. Higher the freq, more it acts like a laser beam. Happy Motoring....

Yes. If you are familiar with the design and looks of radar antennas/radar display units, you can ID what Ka unit the LEO is using just by looking at them.

Yes.

;) Search.

well the reason i ask about the certain frequencies is because I was reading on the V1 forum that adjusting certain settings will make it more sensitive to certain frequencies, not just Ka in general. I'm trying to increase my range of the Ka frequency that I seem to have trouble picking up. Thanks for the replies guys

I believe if you turn Ka gaurd off, it increases Ka detection. Be prepared for Ka falses though. I got them just about every other time I drove somewhere. They are brief, but they will scare the sh*t out of you :p.

With Ka guard off, I got about an extra 100 yards with a very weak signal on one test, not much distance for many extra false alarms. Distance increase is very little with different settings (Ka guard and/or POP on/off) but it is the ideal to find the tail end of an I/O shot far ahead that makes these extra setting desirable. So, it is a trade off for one to try to figure out, which is best for them. Happy Motoring....
