Hey guys,

I've been reading the forums around here for a while, but I've never posted anything so I thought this was a good time to start. I have recently purchased a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and i'm running the Escort 8500 X50 on it. While that detector works wonders on radar, it won't do squat for me when it comes to laser. As some of you may or may not know, practically the whole Wisconsin State Patrol uses Laser as well as the Milwaukee County, Racine County and Kenosha County police. Because of this I am now in the market for a laser jammer.

I was going to originally go with the ZR3 because it would interface very nicely with my X50, but from what i've read it is not the best and will not jam the LA in Stealth mode along with some other guns. So then I was going to go with the M-20 Blinder, but i've heard that this may not jam the LA in Stealth mode either, even though it does very well with all other laser guns AND pays your ticket if you get one. Has anyone ever gotten a laser ticket with the blinder and got them to remburse you for it?

So, down to the question: Should I purchase the Blinder M-20, ZR3 Shifter or wait for newer jammer technology to come out? I've been driving the streets of Wisconsin this long w/o a jammer and I can wait a few more months, but will the wait be worth it? Any and all comments are welcome.

The new and most recent version of Blinder xtreme m20 jams Laser alanta stealth but hardly any departments own the laser altanta gun, not many states use it I think it accounts for 20% of laser use, but i could be wrong the person to ask would be jammertest webmaster

Personally i know the type of guns used by the police forces in NY and according to the state trooper website they have the guns listed, I recommend you check your state trooper site to see what they use.

Blinder is certainly the best, I think you should read the posts in this thread (http://www.radardetector.net/WANTED%3ASomeone-in-WA-state-Blinder-and-Lidatek-for-testing-941t.php) from Jammertest Webmaster, RadarRoy, and The Veil guy. THey seem to be knowledgeable on the subject

Blinder M20 xtreme is the best jammer around, there will be videos up in the video section in due time. Look for them 8)

leepoffaith,

I agree with crazyvolvorob - in that the M20 is arguably the best thing going. It has yet to be demonstrated without question that early models don't jam SM of LA. I think there is a simple and logical explanation to JTWs personal one-off experience. Hopefully an answer from him will be coming to put his concern (doubt) finally to rest.

You may want to consider using VEIL in the interim. It will offer you protection against laser. Just check out a couple of the recent threads under "real experiences (http://www.radardetector.net/EXPERIENCE-W-VEIL-TODAY%21-1069t.php)" and Veil Related (http://www.radardetector.net/Veil-SHINES-Like-a-Champ-Today%21-1061t.php)

Also, may I suggest you contemplate the cost [in terms of risk] of receiving one laser ticket in the timetrame that you delay in making a decision, which ever way you decide to go. If the jammer you ultimately decide is a good one, the resell value will always be there to help defray the cost of an eventual upgrade.

One thing to remember when looking at a laser jammer are the lens. They need replacing about once a year if you drive a good amount. Only the the blinder has replaceable lenses and they are not expensive. With the ZR3 you have to buy another jammer head AND have it installed which is expensive.

Good point about the lenses... I never even thought about that. Just from the responses i'm getting I think I will be purchasing the M-20 Extreme.

3 other questions I have. Where should I purchase it from? www.radarbusters.com seems to have a nice package with installation. I will also be buying 2 so do you think they will combine shipping?

Second, is rear laser jamming nessasary at all? I didn't think so but I figured I'd ask.

Lastly, if I buy this laser jamer is Veil nessasary and could someone explain EXACTLY how it works or give me a link to where I could find it? I'm a little skeptical on it still, and I'm not sure If i need to be spending another 80 bucks.

Thanks.

leefoffaith,

roy will definately take care you. i wouldn't even consider anyone else as a way of expressing thanks for operating this great and informative forum - it costs him to do so.

you can always purchase two additional transponders to make an m20 an m40 so you don't have to make the decision now.

whether you decide to get veil with your blinder purchase is your call. i wouldn't even think of "pressuring" you otherwise as the m20 is an incredible piece of engineering.

i'll let the other guys who have purchased both field that question.

good luck either way and can you post a pic of the front of your vehicle so we can get at look at what you got or at least a model/make description and year?

I used to just use the blinder, but with laser all over Dover, and MD why take the chance.

VEIL customer for life or until the police stop giving out tickets which ever comes first :)

Radarbusters.com is the ONLY place I would consider buying my gadgets from. Roy is one of a kind person. He will make sure that you are 100% satisfied

Well I went ahead and just ordered 2 M-20 Extreme Blinders, 2 Laser Sheilds, and a Can of Veil from Roy. I think I will be pretty well protected from any laser guns once I get all this stuff installed, don't ya think? :)

Opponent? I thought we are all on the same side here? ;-)

Well, as for people in my household, I drive a 2001 Silver Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with a Red X50. I will soon have the Blinder M-20, Veil and a Laser Sheild. My roommate drives a 2003 Red Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with an Escort Solo. He will soon have a Blinder M-20, Veil and a Laser Sheild as well.

I also have a Uniden BC246T Police Scanner with full trunk tracking capibilities that I bring with me on trips and I will soon purchase some type of low key CB radio.

I'm hoping I will never have to deal with another speeding ticket again :)
