i'm getting allot of false alarms with my STI, especially in the city, it's usually x-band but sometimes k-band too.
it picks up pretty much any automatic door in the same universe.
is there anything i can do to cut down on the amount of false alarms?
Unfortunately all detectors do this. Those automatic door openers are on the same frequency as police radar. The only thing you can do is run it in city mode in the city.

i've tried that with no luck, thanks anyway, Jamal.

I find the City mode on the STi to be quite good at cutting down falses on X and K band. I'm still yet to get a KA False.

Lovin my STi
good for you, Daz.
i'm wondering why i'm getting so many....maybe because i'm in a big city with so many more door openers and cars.
Today, I could't believe it, I picked up a Food Lion door about 3/10 of a mile. This was in the country, but still. I thought for sure that it was a cop, so I went back and tried again, and it still did it. Heck of a door opener.

How do you think the STI compares with the V1 jammel? Where did you get one?

I would have to do some more comparisons, but I think the STi is better for POP that's for sure. I only had a V1 for 30 days, I sent it back overnight the last day to get my money back.
I am still very impressed with the Bel STi's POP mode. It hardly ever falses at all on POP! Only 1 false POP I got on the PA turnpike on my way to Ohio and that's it! I have never seen a detector this quiet with POP enabled and still alert to REAL POP threat so well.
That's great if POP was a real threat, but doesn't appear to be at this point.
