Quite often on this forum you see Belscort techs quoted as saying the various revisions are for in-house purposes and should make little difference "on the road". This is not one of those revisions.
To recap... in NZ we have no X, practically no K, lots of Ka (Stalker and Multanova) and some laser. We also have 10 gazillion Cobras and Unidens which were driving my earlier A2M8 version STi bat**** to put it mildly. I had to drive around in tech mode and visually weed out the bogus alerts. I had great range on the real threats but it was pretty wearying having the thing alerting 6 falses to every real threat.
Ive had good support from the local vendor who's supplied me with ops: four STi's (they offered me a replacement V1 this time, an offer declined).
So what's A3M8 actually like? It's a night and day difference. No quibbling, no maybes, the thing effectively no longer falses on Ka. I was worried that maybe they'd have traded off sensitivity for silence but I got a Multanova facing away from me today from 150m out from the zone of death, in the pouring rain, across three lanes of highway, out in the country which... works for me.
I've only clocked about four hours driving in moderate traffic with it so far so ultimate conclusions are yet to be drawn but it looks very promising. I've allready turned off tech mode and I'm watching the bar graph to monitor signal strength. Sigh... and they all lived happily ever after... the end.
