Default Freezing from the almighty Bel?

I know that this isn't normal, but does anyone that has a Bel RX65 had it to where when going through program settings it freezes when changing for example city mode from standard to lo x and to no x and back it stops and just says city. Then you must unplug the unit for it to reset only to have it happen again moments later. I am still under warranty and already have a return number, but I was just curious to see if this is a common problem for Bel users?

    Thanks in Advance,

    Y_C

Hmm... I have never heard of the unit freezing-up, when people are changing the modes or changing any of the settings.

Does it work fine when you are not in the 'programming menus'... meaning does it seem to pick up radar fine and all?

    Any Service Req messages?

Honestly I have never heard of your problem, if I am reading it correct, where it just freezes up(in programming menu). Maybe someone will have had this issue.

I've never had that issue, or heard of anything like it. If it was me I would send it back. You said it's still under warranty so you have nothing to lose.

You're not the only one. Mine is only a couple months old and it froze the exact same way yours did.

It does pick up radar just as good as it always does, but I am just going by when it does pick up a LEO using KA (almost 99 % use this band, no laser) Still great range and between 1-2 miles of warning. But to answer your question yes and no. It only did it once when I had it in V (Pilot) when trying to access the program settings it froze before it ever got to it. But only one time so far.

No service req messages at all. But I have stopped letting the car battery turn it on. Instead I wait about a good 1-2 minutes after the car has warmed up in the morning, and 30 sec - 1 minute when I go around town and turn it on manually. Since I have started doing this the freezing has stopped. So I'm thinking voltage spike?

I am still sending it back just to be safe. I only wish that Bel paid for shipping to send the "defective" unit back to them, but I'll move on.

It very well could just be the voltage problem, some Belscorts have been known to not like being turned-on by the car everytime.

If you sent it back, just await what Bel says... turn it on manually from now on, and see if you still have the problem. You probably shouldnt, especially if its still got fantastic range on radar, with no service req messages, or self-cal.

About shipping: When I had to send my V1 back I had to eat the shipping too... so it isnt just Belscort.

Well I feel better at least knowing that Bel isn't the only company that isn't totally customer friendly if you get my drift!
