I was driving to work this morning on a four lane divided highway with no traffic directly in front of me. I'm doing about 75 MPH and get a Ka alert at 33.820 GHz. I slow down immediately. The local PD has a few Python IIs so I figure it's a real alert. About a mile later I pass the cop who is going the opposite direction. Right after I pass him I get a strong instant on K band alert with the display flashing and the extremely fast beeping. It lasts for a few seconds and it goes away. Have any other 985 owners had the same thing happen?
It could have been just a fluke. Or maybe the Python II had a rear K band antenna. I have never seen this configuration but it certainly is
possible. And it is also possible he aimed a handheld K band Genesis VP at me. They do use them sometimes, even if they have a dash mount Ka radar.
The TA that was following about a quarter mile behind me probably wonder why I slowed down with no traffic in front of me. I may have saved him from a ticket. I don't think he had an RD as he did not slow down right away after I got my initial Ka alert.
