    Default RX65 vs x50 vs V1

Well folks, I got an RX65 from Roy yesterday. It is a brand new M4 Revision 6.1. I'll let y'all know how it compares to my V1 and the wife's x50.

Good. Let me know what you think

I ordered a new one also rev. 6.1 and the ka-range seems a little better than v1 but the k-band is lagging a little compared to my v1.

    Range is pretty good...
The thing I don't like about the RX65 compared with the X50 and V1 is the audio alerts. Because of the audio, I think I would choose X50 over the RX.

I have not heard the alerts enough yet to really judge. I mounted it right above my instrument cluster for now. So I can see the display. What I love is the fact that at night I can read the band ID.

I also LOVE the fact that signal strength is expressed as a number rather than a "graph".

Ok, as far as performance here goes. I took it down my local false alley. In this false alley, my V1 and x50 alert to all of the same causes.

First the x50 and V1 alert to the:
    1. CVS K band (V1 alerts earlier than x50 usually)
    2. Car Dealer x band) V1 alerts earlier than x50)
    3. Grocery store K band (V1 alerts earlier usually)

I run through this alley every day, so I know where approximately the v1 and x50 start to alert to which signal.

Well yesterday I tried with the rx65 Rev 6.1.

    1. CVS K Band (on One pass it alerted to the door, another pass it did not).
    2. X. Band Car Dealer (Alerted both times, but very briefly)
    3. Grocery store K band (no alert). (this store is back from the street, I actually had to pull almost right infront of the door to pick this one up.

I have it set to AutoScan.

People have said that the rx65 is Quieter than the V1. I don't know if this is because of superior "filtering" or because the rx65 is just that much less sensitive than the x50 and v1 on k band?

Anyway, then after putzing around the k-band grocery store I turned around to go home and what do I see? A local cop had parked right off the street (shooting straight up the street) shootin' KA.

Unfortunately I was headed away from him. But still It picked up rear KA for about 1 mile. After the KA dropped off, I turned around reset my trip odometer and went back for another pass. No KA, turns out he had given up shooting from where he was. DAMN.

More review to come as I get more experience.

Compared to x50: Really can't judge yet

Compared to V1: I love the display... I miss the arrows and like the x50 its not so hot on rear detection...

Well its confirmed today... the rx65 is Definitely quieter than the x50 and V1.

In my area there is no difference in falsing between the v1 and the x50, except that the v1 holds onto the false signals longer due to the rear antenna.

The Bel has has completely ignored some xband and also many k-band falses until I am MUCH closer to the sources.

Again, I'm in AutoScan mode on the Rx65, Auto mode on the x50 and big L mode on the V1. None of them run at the same time. Same mounting locations.

Anyone have any opions as to why the rx65 might be quieter than the x50 or the V1 on K? Is it that much less sensitive?

Here in Ohio we have a mix of mainly KA and K on radar (moving usually) and laser (stationary). Also a smattering of x (some highway patrol cars).

I've encountered two KA cops now with the rx65 but no K band cop yet. We'll c.

Its funny that people always claim the V1 is chatty, but in my experience the x50 is just as chatty. This rx65 is the only one of the bunch that actually seems quieter.

If it's more quiet on K band, it is because it's less sensitive. There is no way to "filter" K band other than cutting sensitivity or muting the alerts so you don't hear the audio, and that's not really filtering, just blocking the audio.

Can you try it on Highway mode verses the others and see if it is as quiet/sensitive? I wonder if the autoscan is like city loX on other detectors?

    From the RX65 manual :-

    RX65’s AutoScan mode provides longrange
    warning, with minimum false alarms.
In this mode, RX65’s internal computer
    continuously analyzes all incoming signals
    and intelligently adjusts the sensitivity.
