Default See if this helps ....

Reguarding the red display on the Beltronics Pro RX65 (Version 6.1) and it being hard to see in direct sunlight. I by chance took off the red plastic filter, and discovered the "bare" LED "board" if you will. I find that with the red plastic off it increases the visibility enough to make out better than with it on. Of course I realize by doing this I will probably void the warranty and increase the mortaltity rate (dust clogging circuits and such) but what do you think of that. I have 2 Bel's 1 for use and the other for backup and my other vehicle. Please post your reactions, thoughts, and opinions.

    Sincerely,

    Ace

Thats why I got a X50 BLUE........................as for your idea, it sounds ok, just as long as you keep your car clean the "Mortality" issue is fine

it probably WILL void a warranty or two

I actually thought of taking a Blue X50 and a Red one's outer filter and making a possible X50 PURPLE, just for kicks (Because Red + Blue = Purple)

I had a tinted Rear window too, but the sun still washed out my old red so I got a Blue, I had ALL my windows tinted and it still washed, if not through the back itll come through the front.....thats just the nature of light

That's weird. When my RX65 is at full brightness it is clearly visible. Even in this intense hot Texas sun.
By the way. I spent too much $$ on these detectors to be taking them apart and messing with them like that.

Me too. It also makes it harder to appear from the front which I like a lot.
MIne is hardwired so unless you look hard you cant see it from the front.

X2 I don't think that I would want to do anything to void my warranty...cause you know that as soon as you do, you will get the service required message...that's just how things seem to work :?
