Just got back from Nova Scotia. I drove down there from Toronto for a wedding. This was an excellent test for my STI. I tried to keep it at 130km/h for most of the trip but occasionally cranked it up on the open roads. I am very happy to say that I did not get pulled over and my STI worked very well! It saved me several times. Once in Que on hwy 20 east of Que city, I was flying when I got a ka alert! I hit the brakes hard! About 20 secs later I saw an LEO hiding in the median behind some trees. That was a ticket for sure if not for my RD. There were lots of k and ka alerts while driving through New Brunswick. There was one very close call. I was on Hwy 2 where there is two way traffic. As soon as I got a passing lane I stepped on it to get by all trucks and other traffic. Was doing about 150km/h when I got a ka alert. I hammered the brakes! I just got it down to a safe speed when an RCMP cruiser came over the hill! WOW!! Close call man. You don't have much time to slow down sometimes.
I've been waiting for my first laser alert for 6 months now and finally got it!! I was on the 401w around Kingston, ON. I was passing a tractor trailer when I got the hit. Heart attack!!! I didn't know what was going on! I hit the brakes and started looking around but didn't see anything. I have no idea where the LEO was hiding. I thought he got me for sure. I had my cruise control set at 130k/h.
It was a pretty good trip. I kept X-band on just in case they still used it in N.B. and N.S.. No alerts, it's all k and ka band. I'm happy with my purchase of the STI.
