Thread: Bel autoscan

    Default Bel autoscan

What ever happened to that marvelous autoscan feature that adjusted sensitivity to both X and K band on the Bel Vector 850?
My new RX65 appears to adjust only X band.

New to this forum, but 27 years experience with high end Bel and Escort detectors.
    Thanks

Been looking around for a while and can't find any info on it. I'm curious to know now as well.

Well on my BEL it cuts out K-band but maybe it's just cause the parking lot changes...I generally drive through an area of multiple doors and in Auto scan i hardly get an X false and my K band sensitivity is down

I would do a video of this but sadly my BEL is giving me problems so i need to call BEL and hopefully get it repaired, or it's time for an upgrade(IE new detector)

Is Autoscan and AccuSweep the same thing?
If not what is the difference?

AccuSweep refers to Ka and means that in Ka set to USA it scans specific frequency's of Ka used inthe USA....However i recommmend that all users of the RX65 set it to international....you can never have to much Ka protection.

AutoScan is an Mode on the BELscorts, just like City, and Highway

Are you sure? If I'm not mistaken they use in the USA Ka Superwide band (34.4GHz +/-1.5GHz) but the international part is the Ka Narrow band (34.3GHz +/-0.1GHz).

Autoscan sucks! It cuts down on sensitivity way too much. You are risking a ticket if you use it. I am a long time BEL owner BTW. Use either highway or city X mode.

Autoscan is supposed to cut down on false alarms, it does it by really cutting down on sensitivity.

Accusweep just scans 3 Ka band frequencies, 33.8, 34.7, and 35.5 GHz. These are "supposedly" the only Ka frequencies used in the US. I noticed no improvement in speed of response on Ka band with this feature enabled. My V1 spanked it in speed of response to a Stalker Dual Ka band radar. The Accusweep does seem to cut down on Ka false alarms though.

Are you sure you owned bel or an escort?I always had mine on A, and it gave me plenty of time to slow down.

Mine was the BEL 985. The implementation of Autoscan may have been different on the 995 and the RX-65, as well as the 8500s. When I had the 995, I did not use the Autoscan mode. I had to be within 20 ft. of a door opener for the 985 to alarm when in autoscan. And I never got alerts of any kind when using it on the highway.

Using the autoscan with my x50 on K band would give me an average 20 seconds to slow down.

If the autoscan really does do that well filtering out K band doors, then it is worth it!
