Default Question about the Bel 936?

I have a chance at buying a Bel 936 for only $20 locally. I told the guy I am interested. Is the Bel 936 a decent unit?

For $20 you can't go wrong if it works. It is an older unit but it appears to pick up all the necessary bands, but I do not know how well it works:

    Check here for information.

I wrote down the negatives that people said about it on a radar detector review site.

    "Homemade-looking mount, absolutely horrible!"

"New Windshield mount is week at the pivot point, and will not sustain the weight of the detector on moderately rough roads or vibrations. I solved this by setting it at the desired angle, then wrapping it with matching black electrical tape. This solved the problem, and it isn't noticeable. Display can be a little dim in bright sunlight. I have solved this by placing it in a place where it is in the shadow the windshield frame."

"False Alarms, poor display design, mute does not really work, volume control(does not turn down low enough), this radar actually trains the user to ignore most warnings. Not a good idea. Way too many false alarms. Pass any car with a radar detector and it will beep."

    Default took it out

Took the Bel 936 out for a test drive last night. X,ka, VG-2 alert, and laser were working. I noticed when I went by the known k band falsing areas, it didn't go off. When I got home, I did a system reset and put a couple of other detectors near the 936 to see if it would go off on k band. After a reset, the unit went off on k band. Since alpinestars has my k band radar gun right now, I will have to go to Walgreens that has a k band door sensor on it which always sets off my detectors. Will let you know later how it went.
