Hello, everybody, I haven't posted in a while. I've been wondering something lately and I figured I'd throw it up and see what kind of answers or insight I can get. I have a BelTronics RX65 Pro. In my area, Ka-Band radar is the most predominant method of speed enforcement by far. 2 of the local county cars and 1 local city car still use K-band from the moving vehicle. I have also encountered 1 handheld K-band gun and 1 laser gun in use by local city cops while stationary. I have not encountered a single REAL X-band radar alert. With this knowledge, the settings I use for bands are: X-OFF, K-on, Ka-USA, Ku-OFF, LSR-ON, SWS-OFF, POP-ON. I looked at the list of radar bands used in the US by states. Wisconsin and Iowa do not have X listed but Illinois does.
1)Does anyone know what areas of Illinois are using X-band radar?
All 3 states use K and Ka so I'm good there. Also, in regards to Ka, I realize that having it on USA mode narrows the range it has to scan for Ka. Is the RX65 up to date on this?
2)Is it possible for me to get hit by a Ka source the RX65 doesn't see under USA mode?
You get the idea.
3)Does having it on International hurt the range on everything else because it would have to scan a wider range?
4)Does having laser on hurt radar reception?
5)Does having SWS on hurt reception? Is SWS worth having on?
I have come across K-band transmitters on road constructions signs, but I did not get any messages on the detector like it says in the manual.
Wisconsin has POP listed. I realize what POP is and how deadly it can potentially be.
6)Does having POP on hurt reception? What will the RD do if it sees POP (curious)?
I thought it would be really nice to have all of these answered in one thread. Thanks in advance for any answers or insight.
