    Default Beltronics Wasnt Aware????

Hey y'all i just called Beltronics today complaining about the ramp up audio alerts for the STi and was asking them if anything was being done to fix this issue (ex an update)? The tech guy said that he was not aware that people were upset about this issue and that there was even a problem with this. So he said nothing was being done. He said the ramp up was the same in their older models and the escort models. How can this be possible???

beltronics has the worst customer service of any company ive ever dealt with. still has the best detector tho. they havent gone out of business only because of their engineering dept.

My 985 has no ramp up problem with its alerts! So I would have to disagree with the CSR rep.

I was also thinking this ramp up on the STi is queer.. compared to my other beltronics and escort detectors...but nothing compares to my V1 ramp up, I sure wish Bel fixed the audio ramp up.

I've never really had the time to worry about the beep rate, or audio ramp up as it's called here. K and Ka don't seem to ever have the kind of distance for me to worry about rampup, I'm usually slowing down within seconds of a K or Ka alert and encoutering the source within a few more seconds. X bands I do kind of play with a bit as those sources (real police radar) typically have much greater range. Against roving LEOs even with constant Ka, if we're approaching each other, the time from first detect until the LEO is within visual is just a few seconds at 70mph. Who has time to even think about the beep rate? I suspect that engineers are much more concerned with first detect, ie actual sensitivity of the detector, than with how the audio ramp up occurs. Maybe Bel dropped the ball here or maybe Bel engineers realized that in most cases audio beep rates are inconsequential as the actual detect range against K and Ka threats is usually limited, sometimes extremely so, by hills, curves, traffic etc. My attention immediately goes to my speed and my brake pedal when I hear K or Ka, if my unit beeps like crazy it irritates me and I mute it anyway. I guess I don't get the beep rate fuss.

yes but in my Truck I have the STi hidden, so audio is all i hear...so ramp up tells me how close they are getting!
