I just got mine today in the mail, and it has a fuse on the positive side wire... does that mean i dont need a fuse for it, will this one on here be enough?

This video will show you how to hard wire the detector

Spoiler: show
yeah i know how to do it, im just wondering if this fuse on the positive line of this direct wire i got from beltronics is enough of a fuse or if i should have another one...
dunno but i put a fuse on when i hardwired mine. best be safe with a $500 piece of equipment. didnt notice mine actually had a fuse on the hardwire....actually i put on two since i wired my GPS to the same hardwiring.
fuses are cheap, blown RDs are not. my main fuse is a 10A and i believe the RD is on a seperate 2A fuse...although it could be 5A..not sure.
so on my add a circuit i should use a 10amp fuse?
You do not need to add an additional fuse to the circuit. Just connect the positive side to the hot side of any terminal that is on with igniton only. The supplied fuse is sufficient for your RD.Originally Posted by JAYNO20
ok thats kinda what i figured... its like a 2 amp fuse and comes with a pretty nifty little piece that lets u tap into a wire for power... so i'll just do this without the add a circuit then... thanks guys!
Yep, direct wire fuse in line is all you need...unless you have a positive ground electical system...then u better check with the experts! the in line fuse is actually a small amp rating when compare to amp rating with a inductive volt/ohm with the coiled lighter plug..Originally Posted by JAYNO20
At least mine anyway
I just completed a custom install of my RX65. Just have a 2A fuse in line with your RD. If you use the smartcord, it has a fuse in it so you don't need an extra one.
The way I did it, I have a power switch, mute button, and LEDs integrated into my dash so I didn't use the smartcord (I'm poor and can't afford the $40+shipping, so I built it for $10), therefore I have an inline 2A fuse so the fuse goes instead of the RD in the event of some kind of short circuit. Hey, I built the smartcord circuit on breadboard so you never know!
