    Default Bel Purchasing Consideration

    Hi

A new user question for you all. I am currently looking at buying a Radar Detector for use in the UK (I live in Bedfordshire). I have been considering the Beltronics RX65 unit, but trying to get a US reseller to ship to UK is not as easy as first thought (although not impossible). I therefore have also considered the Bel 995 unit. Would it be worth getting the 995 as it is aimed at international users, or is it worth pursuing the purchase of the RX65 instead? Having the backup of Bel's warranty for the product is also important.

Your views would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I think Radar Roy will sell you on and ship it to the UK and from what everyone has said about him, he takes care of his customers. PM him and he can help you out. He will confirm whether or not he ships to the UK or not, I'm not sure if he does or doesn't. Take care.

-Cobra Trapshooter RD-31XX? (Can't remember silver/teardrop shape X, K only). -Cobra Trapshooter RD-3110 (my first RD in 1987, when Cobras were good, bought one off ebay for nostalga new in the box). -Kustom HAWK. -Kustom Falcon cordless K Band. -Kustom Talon.

Bell Vector995 has Ku so it might be better for a Euro person. I dont know if the Rx65 has Ku.

    Hi

Thanks to everyone for their comments. I have spoken to Radar Roy and he will ship to UK, so no probs their. The other reason for an RX65 is for the up and coming ability to interface with Speed Cheetah's GPS Mirror!! However, the one thing I'm not too keen on is the warranty. I believe Beltronics would NOT honour the warranty as the unit is not officially available in the UK.

I understand your situation ops: Warranty issues are rare, but can be trouble, although look at it like this. If how ever the RD does play up, put it back into the box it came in and send it away back to Roy. As long as you don't mind not having it for 2 or 3 weeks?

Mmmm, I have again contacted Roy and asked if he handles returns for repairs, and he stated no he doesn't.

    Odd.............. :?

When I had a problem with my STI Roy took care of me 100%.

It's possible because you are in the UK and the shipping costs are prohibitive or Belscort won't accept "warranty" returns from Roy anymore.

Roy's a great guy. His customer service is excellent from my experiences.
