So I bought an RX65 today :)

Not at all displeased with my purchase. I really wasn't expecting a huge difference between this and my 2 year old whistler 1660 but D4MN.

I went in radio shack (small franchise store not a chain) and they had one hanging on the wall and they were whoring out the rat shack credit cards. So being the impulse buyer i am I went ahead and snagged it up after being approved for credit

. I asked how long it had been there so I wouldn't get an old version and the girl said only a week or two.

Anyway, it saved my ass on the way home, I was going about 75 in a 70 and about 3/4 mi out I see a car; then BAM 7 signal strength Ka so i turn off cruise and reset it at 70 and cruise on by :-p I may not have been pulled over anyway but it sure felt good. KA range on my whistler wasn't that spectacular though it worked fine w/ a rabbit.

So yea add another very happy RX65 owner to the list

/edit: Just found out this is a 6.1 (on the startup screen while holding down city/bright and powering it on). Is this good? Also the 4 digits on the serial number car is 3106

6.1 is the newest as of about a month ago, there is now 6.4 out i believe, but the difference is most likely minimal.

I have the RX65 as well, and it seems to be a great radar detector (it hasnt saved me yet, but it has great range when it comes to other things that set off the detector)

The Rx65 is a great detector.Mine has saved us countless times.I have no reason to even think of changing to another detector.All i need now is a laser jammer and i'll be complete.I'll be ordering another when i get back from overseas.

Yeah 6.1 is fine. It is what i have onyla few of the really new models have 6.3. But there have been no signs tht it's any better. Overall your gonna love this things it is a big step up from your old RD.

How does the Rx 65 do on laser (from personal experience).

I'm thinking about either a rx 65, sti, or older v1 with no pop.

I love my RX65 too mrcllusb, but you might want to look at the V1 since you are making another purchase. I was kind of reluctant at first, but I am indeed a fan of the V1 now. i have confirmed a couple of rumors about the V1 that are just not true. Believe me, after owning a RX65 and an X50, I was really hard on the V1 but it pretty much meets all of my needs and then some.

i have 3 problems with the V1.First i don't like the way it looks,second it's not as quiet as my RX65,and third i prefer a full text screen instead of an old style light indicator.I'm not into the arrows because i normally only do 5 or 6 over and leave it at that.So when i get a signal,i just take it easy.

Wise move: RX65

Bad move: RS credit Card. Cancel the card and pay it off as soon as possible.
