Default Bel 966st (remember that one?)

    Hi,

I'm driving to Florida next weekend from Montreal..been doing tons of research on speed fines in various states, bla bla bla...anyways, I have an old Bel 966st (bought in 1993 and it's suppose to be invisable to RDD), do any of you experts remember which RDD it evades?

I tried googling, but get nothing.

    Thanks

RDD detector proof detector you have to spend big bucks and there is no stock detector immune to all RDDs you would have to spend big bucks to modify a detector to be invisible to all RDDs

Sadly your BEL 966 is not invisible to moderned RDDs It probably evades
VG2 rdd but canada uses Spectre so don't use your detector there

I would just not even use the detector until you are in the USA, anywhere then, you're fine.

The UPS guy just brought me my $12 radar detector kit. It probably won't pick up anything but it'll be invisible to spectre! (For me it's just some cheap fun.)

OOh, when are we going to have some range testing videos?

No need for videos. I'll just give you a couple of still shots. One of my arm within 5 feet of the K-band door opener and the detector going off, another one just like it but 20 feet from the door opener and the detector not going off. What can I say, my soldering skills are questionable .

I'll be away all weekend but I will probably put it together either next week or weekend. It looks pretty simple.

    Default bel 966 info

I picked up this unit from a pawn shop, and I called Bel. They have NO information on it at all!

Anyone know where the sensor that picks up the radar beams are on the unit? I am not exactly sure how i should mount it in the car so that i get my best protection. If anyone has any information on it, that would be awesome too. I tested it at a grociery store door too, and i think the numbers counted on the display indicating how close i was getting to the door. "9" indicating i was right there, and "1" as in barely reading the door because it is so far away.

Also, any ideas how old it is? Can it fight detector detectors?

I had a 966st. Was a good detector in its day.

Was supposedly immune to the VG-2, with Bel's shadow technology.

    thanks

Any idea where it picks up the signal? If sitting in the dash so that you can read the disply, the face that faces out the front window looks like full plastic, not a readable area.
