I have become a recent poster although I have been reviewing the site for some time. I currently own a very early version (don't know its revision, it may have been the original) RX-65 plus an early version RX-55. I upgrade my detectors every 3 or so years as a matter of course because the environment (hot car interiors and cold Pa winters) takes their toll not to mention "improved"?? technology always supercedes older generation electronics. Anyhow I have become frustrated with trying to find out if newer versions of Bel...Escort..or even V-1 perform better or even as well as older versions. For every account of someone here praising the "latest and greatest" soft/hardware revision of ****** brand detector being better than the older version they owned someone else provides some some reason or story how another (older or different) version is better.....even to the point where person #1 decides to return the "latest and greatest" because it is TOO QUIET at locations where it should pick up door openers etc but doesn't until very close to the source. Is this a good thing (doesn't false) or a bad thing(low sensitivity)?? Damn,my eyes are glazing over. I know "performance" is a subjective thing but all these posts are driving me crazy. I know everyone is trying to inform everyone else of their experiences but inconsistancy is the name of the game here. Yes, I know various independent tests should narrow it down but even they show anomolies i.e. the STi Driver performance on certain frequencies. I had ALMOST decided to try a V-1 this time around but now there is a battle whether disabling X band actually does...or at least some with the newest rev. state they are getting X alerts with NO X in evidence. I also live in Pa where ONLY the State Police have the authority to use radar so suburban mall sites with all their "false" alerts is a problem. I have never (never say never) seen a trooper hiding in a town strip mall ambushing motorists so any alert around a mall is a "false" (in my experience). So, the V-1 with its high sensitivity and reported tendency to "false" horribly in this senario also worries me. What is a person to do???
