    Default V985 Self Repair

I'm having connection problems with my 985. I'm not paying Bel $85 when I know I can fix it myself.
I've searched and searched with zero luck.
I know there is good information on how to crack the case and fix the loose female power connection on the detector but I just can't find it.

    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!
    Thanks much in advance

On the 985 it has two screws located towards the antenna end of the detector. When I take these out I can only open it so far leading me to believe there are more screws under the button area or some kind of trick to getting the case open. I don't want extra work or break something if I can avoid it.

Try crimping the female connector slowy. This is what i did with my old bel sti745.- one crimping at a time and test it until it is snug.

The 985 uses the S7 platform. Aside from the lack of POP protection, it should perform just as well as current models, and in some cases better.

X2! My 985 far outperformed the 995 that I tried.

Opening the case near the LED on the 985 is tricky. There are plastic tabs that fit into each other and it takes a certain amount of finesse to get them apart. It is not impossible though.

Usually it is the side contact that gets pushed to far to the side after constant use. You may be able to get a very small screwdriver and push the side contact back closer to the center pin. But don't get too carried away!
