After a solid 4 years without 1 ticket with my Vector LR, I'm placing it under retirement.
I did plenty of reading and research and feel I completed my homework. The STi driver became by choice of detector over all others including the V1, Rx65, and Escort models.
The #1 reason for the STi Driver was full immunity from Spectre Radar. I have been pulled over a few times while driving the speed limit, detector going off (hidden from view), and the reasons for the pull over were bull-crap reasons. Basically they detected my detector and just wanted to give me a hard time. I feel this practice is increasing, thus the reason for going stealth.
The 2nd reason for the STi is from all the test performed by various organizations, including GOL and others. Time and time again the test results fit my driving habits and needs. The STi passed these test over and over.
3rd reason is familiarity with the Bel products. Just yesterday my Vector LR picked up a rear hit 3/4 miles back. I wont even get into how well it performs with front hits. I can only imagine the STi driver performing better with it dual antenna design.
This web site has been an excellent source of research and guidance. I drive 55 minutes one way into work each day and drive into some of the worst speed traps around. I get hit once a day GUARANTEED by a radar and cant afford second best. Over the hill detection, around the corner detection, and Instant On are the #1 driving conditions I put up with every single day.
Hopefully by the end of this week the STi Driver will be sliding my Vector LR into retirement (hard decision because of reliability) but its time for the best.
Great web site and hope to contribute.
