I was traveling westbound on the Pa Turnpike Saturday evening (it was still light). There was absolutely NO traffic westbound due to an accident on the west side about 40 miles to my rear. I had the whole road to myself and it is a good thing I was restrained in my speed. There was Pa State Trooper backed into one of the "cut-outs" PennDot has thoughtfully provided for them angled about 45 degrees opposite my direction of travel (facing east). About the same time I saw him my RX-65 went full tilt lights and sound....I.O. "K" band and quite nicely done too. I MAY have had an advance warning if I wasn't the only car on the road (literally) but as it was if I had taken advantage of the open road by rolling at speed I would have been DONE...period!! I thought he may come after me out of sheer boredom even though I was only doing about 70 in a 65.
After giving this some thought I believe it seemed more efficient (it was nicely done though) because I was totally caught off guard. No advance warning will do that. Also, I'm quite sure someone, somewhere behind me who drove like they owned the road (they actually did at that point) was also surprised and not happily.
