Default How much is an upgrade of STi from old version to new?

OK, so my question re. Radar Roy no longer owning the store and hence his good ol service no longer available, was never answered.

So let me ask you guys this question:

Say in 6 months there is a new version that comes out that fixes say a big bug. What is the cost of getting the unit upgraded to that version?
Is it like with V1 where you will pay $75 max for a new version, or basically Bel/Escort will give you $80 towards purchase of the new one and that is it?

Well, I called. The answer was "we don't know, the only thing I can tell is that you can trade in your old STi and get $80".

The cost of upgrading is the cost of a new unit.

They wont upgrade the firmware unless it is sent in with a problem to be fixed. And even then it is not 100%

That is way too high cost of ownership. STi might be stellar unit and I was so close to buying it.... but this issue is a deal breaker.
Going to nect best thing for my type of driving - V1.

Wish I knew this in the beginning. I would have saved 9 or so hours reading all those STi threads.

^Mate this is the internet. The answers you get on here aren't carved in stone and delivered with bolts of lightning in the midst of a burning bush... or whatever.

I had at least three A2M7 versions of the STI that falsed like a SOB to every Cobra in the universe. These were swapped out free of charge until I finally got one that performed as advertised A3M8.

I can't believe that if a significant bugfix arrived shortly after you purchased that they wouldn't help you out. Bel are rightly very proud of the STi and they're keen that the customer is happy with it too... in my experience.

OK, but 1-2 years down the road I need to upgrade. V1 will run $50-$70m STi - buy new freakin' detector.
If I am driving in the DC or VA, I will just drive the limit. I am not that rich to pay $400 every year or two.
Again, I would have gone for STi, but even sales person telling me that they will not just killed it.

^Well my STi is 1 to 2yrs old and the only thing wrong with it is that the serial number is smudged

    Hope you like your V1
