I originally had a 2607 unit which I sent back. I received a 2407 unit that replaced it (go figure - not sure if it has the 33.8 fix).
Anyway, I travelled up highway 400 north to Sudbury/Timmins. From what I understand, this strech is KA 33.8 territory. I put my STi in tech mode just to see what kind of hits I would get.
I only received 1 hit on the way to timmins and on return. The one hit was just outside of Barrie where a LEO was sitting at the side of the road with his lights on behind a tow truck. The hit was K-Band at 24mhz. The LEO clearly had left his radar on.
I passed 3 of the new OPP cars (black/white). I am assuming these newer cars are equipped with 33.8 radar guns. One was at the side of the road and some guy was talking to him through the window, so it is possible he had his radar off. The other two passed me coming in the opposite direction. I could clearly see their radar guns in the windshield.
In all three cases, while passing the new OPP cars, my STi was SILENT. It is quite possible that the LEO's had their guns off. However, travelling this same strech in the past with my V1, it is my experience that in many cases (say 60 to 75%) the oncoming LEO would have his radar gun turned ON.
Did anyone else travel this strech of highway and get any 33.8 Ka hits?
