So, I was driving back from work, and live in an area with very little to light traffic enforcement (depending on what's going on [ie: what will generate the most revenue for time wasted]).
The "highway" I drive on is one lane, and full of hills and turns. There is one incline you climb for half a mile before declining over a mile. When I reached the top of the hill, about .1 mile from the crest I received a KA blip. So, I thought there was an officer sitting at the bottom of the hill like previously, and let off the gas. However, there was none to spot, so I just resumed my speed (there's no such thing as instant-on here).
Additional information: there is a hill on the right that limits your view to only the road in front of you. Also, there was a fedex truck I was tailing about 300ft back.
I travel down the decline for .5 or so miles around a 45 degree turn into a valley, only to climb up another hill. By this time, I started receiving another KA alert as I straightened out. There's a gas station about .3 miles or so away from me at that time, so there was a good chance an officer was sitting there.
Indeed there was, however, he wasn't monitoring speed as he had pulled over a semi on the edge of a parking lot. However, the thing that strikes me was that his radar was facing away from the road, and towards the gas station at a slight angle (see image). I would've gotten a picture, but I didn't want to be suspicious just driving up and snapping a photo.
I'll remeasure the mileage, and maybe bring along my camera that records video.
But, for now, here's an image.
needless to say, I was dumbfounded I even picked this up.
Oh, and fyi, it was 99F with 38% humidity.
