Default POP question and Threat mode question

Why is it best to have POP set to off?

I read a post earlier about how it was better to keep the RD in threat mode versus ramp up. What is a notification that I should be concerned about (vs. one for a door at a 7-11)? Thanks.

Turning POP off reduces the amount of false alerts. Threat mode is to show multiple bogey threats in different bands at one time. As far as which one to use threat or STD mode, it's a personal preference.

I prefer threat mode that way i can see the different bands being used at the same time.In Upstate NY,you not only have the NYSP but the sherriff also who run different radar systems. The NYSP use KA and Laser. The sherriff uses K and KA...

Some members have stated that it does. I have not tested this particular issue and therefore cannot give you a solid yes or no.

Having a STI (and X50), I can say I never have had a false with POP...

If the range is only like 0.00000000000000001% reduced, then why not?

I'm not sure that range is reduced that little. Whistler publishes that their POP mode reduces K/Ka sensitivity by like 2-3dB.. I'm not sure if Belscort does similar things to cut down on falsing.

There's a post somewhere that says "Mike claims that Belscort has no reduction in range"...

I did a search and can't find any mike who made that claim...but if it's true...then great!

alright! if Mike said it, then it's good enough for me too. I'm sure he's tested all of the bels and knows what he's talking about.
