Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a question that someone here may be able to answer.
About a week ago, I purchased a Bel RX65, (to replace a Bel 855Sti that I bought way back in '98 or '99). When I do the firmware check on the RX65, it states that it's version 6.2. I know that the newest version is 6.3. Is there a difference between the two? Bel's customer-service claims that no software updates have been made since 6.1. So, 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3 contain the same software. The representative claimed that they have to change the firmware revision, if they change any part (even a screw), part number, supplier, etc. I am a professional software engineer/developer, and I tend to be skeptical about what Bel has told me.
Can anyone confirm or refute this? Is there a difference between 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3? Have there been any bug fixes? The retailer has stated that he just received this unit in a shipment from Bel, a couple of weeks ago, but he said that he will send me a new unit, if I want to exchange this one. The last digits on this detector are "3007", which means that it was manufactured in the 30th week of 2007, right? That's pretty recent. Should I exchange this one? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
