Have a 23/07 Sti that I just got back on Friday that was 33.8 flashed.
First off, the 33.8 fix really works. Got a huge alert on 33.8, well over a mile, from a stationary cop on the right shoulder, and me in the left lane, 4 lanes over, in heavy traffic. Nice initial alert, and the Sti didn't lock out the signal. Good.
Anyway, as a byproduct :?: my Sti is now owns 34.7. Coming home today, driving e/b on I-90 just outside of Erie, PA, the DOT has nicely set up a 34.7 speed sign. For comparison, I have a recently upgrade V1 3.863 (recent as of last Thursday.) I did three runs against the speed sign, the first with both detectors on (yes I know you're not supposed to do that.. ) but it shocked me when the Sti alerted about two seconds earlier than the V1.
For each test I actually went and circled around between exits to get in front of the e/b Ka. First run was with the Sti and I made a note where the alert went off. Next run was with the V1 and sure enough it lagged behind the Sti (I passed the spot where the Sti went off.) Did this test again and confirmed the same thing.
I was driving a constant 70mph so this is about 100 feet per second. Basically, the Sti alerted about 200 feet earlier, which is a good "eyeball" guess in my opinion as well.
Same detectors on K-band--The V1 ate the Sti for lunch, so the 33.8 fix hasn't done anything to improve K band, in my opinion.
