Default Remote display for the STI

    Hello!

I have my STI mounted in a hidden location that while it has a clear view of the windshield, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to see the ramp up (the stupid damn audio problems drive me nuts...). Anybody have a solution for this?

Are there any remote displays out there? I know the VIZALERT (while moderately priced) can't ramp up properly b/c the audio out signal on the STI only has two settings...how about the Cheetah mirror?

If there are ANY cheaper solutions, i'd appreciate it. SIGH.

Living in a RD banned province sucks.

heres a free solution -- slow down while the thing is going off and for 5 miles afterwards. cops are like roaches -- when you see one, chances are there are a dozen around a mile away. and most of those will be chase cars without radar anyway.

The Cheetah Mirror uses the same radar detector interface to interpret, then transmit, the alerts as the Vizalert. You won't get a better ramp up than on the STi's audio itself.

If you wanted to extend the STi's display, you can only do so by a short amount before the cable length exceeds the voltage / current demand. I think I remember reading it being about 8 inches max for the X50. If you have the detector hidden in a visor pouch, you could run the display down 8 inches to a viewable spot?

Otherwise there is no cheap solution. STi-R is $$$

    Ohhh! Really?

I can extend the display without comprising it's "Spectre-Proof Ness"?

I doubt it...the entire makeup of the STI is its stealthness...removing the display will compromise its stealthness.

The STI-r is your only option...good idea but we will see the price when it is released.
