RX75 Radar antenna visor mount

So I just bought an RX75 pro plus that should be coming in about a week. I have been lurking the forums for the past couple days and learned a lot; you guys really know this stuff.

I want to mount the rx75's radar antenna up high, possibly using radarroy's visor mount http://www.radarbusters.com/radar-de...isorholder.cfm.

Now for the question... will the rx75 radar antenna fit? I dont mind if it wont fit in the right side of the visor mount. But if it has to go in the left compartment will radar detection performance be diminished at all? (Im assuming the right side has some sort of opening on the front)

If you were going to put the antenna there, why not just get a standard one-piece detector like the RX65? I'm sure it will work quite well as you suggest (the antenna isn't that big, or at least it wasn't on my 975R) but it seems a lot of hassle and expense, no?

I already have an escort 8500 x50, but i managed to pick up the rx75 fairly cheap. I am kind of sick of having something dangling off my windshield and want a remote mount unit.

I would also like the slightly better range i would get by mounting the antenna up higher; and mounting behind my grill would not be an option since i have a metal mesh grill.

You really need to mount that antenna outside the car. I personally can't see the visor mount being practical because of the was the rx75pp is made. By the way you'll like that detector alot especially if you have a pro install it.

I am really looking forward to getting it. The only problem with mounting it in the engine compartment i have a wire mesh grille and if it doesnt go there it will have to go reaaaal low almost to the ground. I know some people have suggested mounting up high in order to get better range on radar detection.

Anyone have any idea if this would truly be a problem putting it in the visor mount? It seems like it wont.

(by the way im installing it myself, i dont trust ANYONE with my car... im a little nuts; but after seeing some horrible stereo installs in cars i just get worried)

What about inside the headliner of center roof console (if you have one), above the RVM?

Thats a pretty damn good idea. There is a sunglasses holder and a little bit of room to work with up there. A few people that have the same car as me have done some custom fiberglass work to mount SAFC's and other air-fuel controllers up there. It might be a good project; but would the dots over the rear view mirror cause a degredation in radar performance?

No, the dots won't hurt radar performance.
