    Default RX65 Original vs refurbished

Hi guys, recently i had opportunity to make a little test between RX65 which was bought from trusted autorized seller and another RX65 which was bought on ebay for much less price (refurbished...).

I tested three K band photo radars which each.

    RX65 Original:

    1Radar - 0.5Kilometer constant alert
    2Radar - 0.4Kilometer constant alert
    3Radar - 1.2Kilometer constant alert

    RX65 (Refurbished)

1Radar - 0.15Kilometer constant alert (sometimes it gave me one beep before 0.3-0.4Kilometer)

    2Radar - 0.15Kilometer constant alert
    3Radar - 0.7Kilometer constant alert

    So conclusion:

Refurbished RX65 works almost the same as Whistler XTR-560. And original RX65 sometimes gives almost twice as much range!!! So don't buy from ebay and other non autorized resellers!!!

Yeah, next time make sure both detectors are facing FORWARD. Detection range really sucks when your refurbished unit is facing AWAY from the radar. ...and make sure both units are PLUGGED IN while you're at it. Someone told me that makes a difference too.

Hmm, guys you mean there should be no difference?

I did this mini test on the same car, the same mounting position, even the same power cord, just 2 different detectors. I really was surprised then i saw the difference, so wrote here.

Well he did say the refurbished unit was from ebay, and we all know that those are usually refurbished in Mexico with low quality expectations.

Just giving you a hard time, Hols...I'm sure you saw what you saw.
Refurbished to me means that the manufacturer rebuilt the detector to bring it back to factory specs. I would think a truly refurbished detector would perform as well as a new one. I can't say what the status of your EBay unit might be.
