Default The G1S7 horn is definitely out of production.

    Hi everyone,

I just got off the phone with Belscort and Steve, one of their most knowledgeable service technicians, confirmed that the G1S7 radar horn definitely no longer is in production. He wasn't sure when it was discontinued though.

So, this completely blows my theory out of the water that the G1S7 horn was still being produced alongside the G7M4 horn. Oh well.

Good to know. Did he give any insight into the performance or reason for changing platforms?

No. But my theory is that overall the M4 design is cheaper to produce since the shielding for the laser circuitry is incorporated as part of the M4 horn casting and since the LO and mixer electronics are part of the main circuit board in the M4 design. For the earlier G1S7 horn, the LO and mixer electronics were on a separate small board installed within a chamber within the horn, and the laser electronics for the G1S7 platform had to have separately installed microwave shielding.

Yeah, I am stubborn and I stick to my guns until I am proven wrong. But then I readily admit my errors.
