I have the original Escort 8500 and really like its performance but really hate its quality. I have had the Self Cal thing happened early on and now it's virtually a piece of dead weight.
I decide to get the RX65 since there is no 3rd player in the high end market.
I pass a source of false signal every morning:
Original 8500 in Auto mode - The warning goes off gradually until half point the most. The 8500 is very good at filter false signals and NEVER jump from one bar to full blast.
RX65 in Auto or City LoX- The warning jumps from one bar to full blast!!! That is BAD programming! A good RD should not give full strength warning when receiving weak security system signals. Imagine driving through unfamiliar territories and this thing keeps on blasting off every time it receives weak security/door opener signals.
