    Default Quality control?

I just received my RX65 that I purchased directly from bel it is rev 6.3 and it must be the worst RX65 out there. I located a cop in my town running K band constant on and the detector did not start alerting until I could see him, where as my V1 started alerting way ahead of time and no I did not run them at the same time. There is also a grocery store that has K band doors, which my V1, X-50, and even my 895 picks up over 1000 feet away, but when I drove by with my new RX65 nothing. I had to pull in the parking lot and get right in front of the door before it even made a peep. I am so disappointed in bel right now. I called them up and let them know and they are sending me a shipping label so I can send it in and then they are sending me a new one.

Why not stick with the V1?

I am going to keep the V1 around. I am just looking for something new to use and since I am so impressed with the 895 I figured I would try out one of bel’s top models.

I'm sure that the replacement RX-65 will work splendidly. I noticed in your signature that you gave your Bel 895 to your brother and that it is now in his truck. Years ago while my brother was in college, I gave him three hand-me-down radar detectors. All three were stolen from his car. You would think that, especially after the second one was stolen, that he would have learned to both remove the radar detector from the visor and lock his car! I stopped giving him my older radar detectors after the third one. I had tweaked each one too. That made me mad when I think about the time I put into tweaking each one. A bit over a year ago he had stuff stolen out of his car. Of course, it wasn't locked. Hmm, 15 years later and he still hasn't learned to lock his car!

If mine gets stolen out of his truck I will have him buy another one, but I am glad that he keeps his truck locked, so hopefully that will not happen. You are a very generous brother letting him loose 3.

all depends what kind of car you drive. I've a 91 fox and I removed the door handles flat out so no way to truly lock it. nobody's touched the thing

I have both and i think that for the average driver the Rx65 is better. Also for anything but open highway driving i perfere the Rx65. However for the real radar freaks (like me and most of you) the V1 is the only choice.

How did you go about tweaking (tuning?) them? Is it still doable with modern detectors?

I used to hide my detector and leave the car unlocked. The first day I left it in place and locked the car, the detector was stolen by someone who sliced through a new rag-top. A year later someone broke in to get my replacement by prying the door lock on a sedan. I try never to leave it in obvious view anymore. If someone can see it and wants it badly enough (e.g., if it's a good one), no regular lock or alarm can really keep them out.
