    Default self calibrate 13 message?

turned my rx65 on today (raining out and wipers on) message " self calibrate 13" repeated 4 times at 3-5 second intervals before I turned it off.

shut off wipers and turned detector back on everything ok.

Should I be worried or is this message due to the wiper movement upon start up. Just got detector out of box 3 days ago.

    anyone know the answer?

this as nothing to do with the Wiper, if you don't see that message again, you should be fine, but if it happend again you might want to have your detector check

Don't know if that's a good thing Mark. I would call Chad at Bel and he will be able to help you with that. I think that the RX65 self calibrates on its own without giving a message about doing so. I would definitely have that checked into.

It might be some sort of test mode that they used when making the detector.

    Default customer service beltronics responce

I spoke to Nyjear at Beltronics costomer service, he indicated that occationally the detector will sence a low voltage or other factor and self calibrate. nothing to be worried about.

However, he was a little shocked it happened so soon out of the box. He idicated his advice would have been to turn it off and back on also. Should something be wrong a need service message would come on and stay on.

Hope this helps anyone else with simular message.

I was a little worried my detector was not working correctly. I followed a county officer home for 10 miles last night and no responce. met two town cops on the highway outside of town and no responce, could just be they did not have radar on at that time. I hope I can still trust my detector will see soon.

    Default additional research

My rx65 again identified a self cal 3 message and went to service required. I contacted Roy and resolved my issue.

however, through additional research I believe I have got to the root of the problem, I spoke to sheri at Beltronics today and discussed the revision # 3.6 vs 4.5 with her. It appears that some vehicles trigger a self calibrate message within the detector. this in turn triggers a service required message. Software was updated to have the detector self calibrate without alarming or identifying this fact. this is not common except for some vehicles.

So for those of you wondering if 4.5 rev. is something new and exciting. No. it was merely a fix for a small problem. with that said, she indicated that the 3.6 and 4.5 did not mean a whole lot because the software glitch repair is now in both versions differant number really means very little.

    Hope this helps all.
