I bought a new BEL V940 about 10 days ago from Circuit City for really short money ($125). This was to be just a cheapie detector in a car that's not driven often. I currently have a 7500S in that car but it's developed that internal problem where it falses all the time on laser. Escort sez they need $60 to look at.
The new BEL seems (seemed) decent around town, but now that I've spent more time with it I've come to realize it falses all the friggin' time on LASER whenever I'm facing the sun, which is at a very low angle right now in the sky. So, question is, should I upgrade to the V995 (which is equipped with two features I wish the 940 had) or is it likely I'll find the overly-sensitive laser section on that unit too??
I will say that if it weren't for the laser falsing this would be a decent unit. Detection range on both K and Ka are solid...no complaints there. I don't think I can live with the perpetual laser falses when turned towards the sun.
Thanks for any suggestions.
