Strange thing today.... While on my drive home from work (straight flat highway) I got a Ka signal. First it was just a low beep, then it began to get faster. I slowed down and started looking all around. then I see in my mirror (way back, maybe 1 mile??) red/blue lights comming. I, along with a bunch of other traffic pull over and this Tahoe fly's by. After a bit my rd goes silent again, after the Tahoe is out of site.
Now the strange part... About 5 miles down the road I start getting another ka signal. As I get closer I see an accident up ahead in the median. The same Police Tahoe (and several more cars) are there at the accident scene and of course everyone is slowed way down. My rd continued going off until I got about 1/2 mile past the accident scene.
So, my question is... is it common for a LEO to leave his radar equipment on while traveling to an accident scene and while he is at the scene? When he flew past me, he was not looking for speeders, he was enroute to the accident? I doubt he was working radar at the accident scene because traffic was very slow in all directions. I thought this was strange?? But I'm real new to rd's maybe this is normal?
I've only had my 995 for a couple days and this is the 1st ka band signal I've received.
