Default Question about the quick power up sequence

Is there any real reason NOT to use this? I find that half of the time I'm getting in my car I'm on the phone then I have to turn on my RD and listen to it jingle and jangle for several seconds. The quick sequence doesn't affect the RD's performance in any way, does it? If not, why would they even have a full sequence?

I think I'll just use the quick sequence unless somebody here offers a reason to do otherwise :? :? :?

    Thanks for the help!
    Jay

I use the FST sequence. It does not effect performance. The STD sequence is basically to familiarize new users with the different alerts. Others believe it's an indication the detector is functioning properly. My usual false alerts serve that purpose.

It doesn't run the self-cal test then or anything does it? I know the alerts and I know where it falses around my area. But as long as I'm not missing out on anything, then I think I'll turn it to FST.

    Thank you LordVector.

No you're not missing anything, it will calibrate itself regardless of the startup settings.

There's an undocumented feature on Bel's that you could use also (at least I didn't see the feature pointed out in my 955 manual). It worked on my old 850sti, and works on my 955 as well. When you press the power button to turn the unit on, if you press the power button right away again, it will skip the power-on sequence, and go directly to "ready" mode.

I do that on my older Bel too, does that work with newer Bels like the 995? Also, doing that will damage anything by overriding the Start up. I have done it for years without a problem but I was curious anyway?

Another thing with the older Bel (not sure if newer Bels have it) but in Tech Mode you have to use the longer start up sequence, is this still the case with newer Bels?

The FST mode for startup does exactly as you guys describe. It power's on immediately with no distraction unless you have a band (Not default) disabled . In that case it will quicky display the bands (not default) disabled. Other than that, the power up is immediate. By not default I mean POP and SWS and Ku which are disabled by default and are not displayed on powerup.

Yea it's much nicer now. Just "Bel V995" and a single beep. Good stuff.
