Default Bel 995 vs Rx 65

    Hello

Just came across this board while surfing the net. I have read the Sml test for 2005. What are the differences in the Vector 995 and th Rx 65?? They both look to detect the same bands wanting something with Ku abilities in case it becomes a threat here in Alabama. Which is better ?? Is there a big difference in their range??? Just wandering why one was more than the other. Just a newbie here hoping someone can help me out.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Let me add to that:

RX65 Radar Receiver / Detector Type
    · Superheterodyne, GaAs FET VCO
    · Scanning Frequency Discriminator
    · Digital Signal Processing (DSP)

    V995 Radar Receiver/Detector Type
    Superheterodyne, VTO
    Scanning Frequency Discriminator
    Digital Signal Processing (DSP)

The RX65 has a multi threat display the V995 doesnt. As you can see the Radar Receiver is dif. also. The Rx65 has the newer one and is the same as the X50.

To tell you the truth, I dont know. I just know that the X50 and Rx 65 use the same. If i remember right I think the Escort 7500 uses the VTO too. Dont quote me on that though, im going off memory and too lazy to look it up right now.

    The new 2005 X50: Superheterodyne, Varactor-Tuned VCO

The original 1980's Passport: Superheterodyne, Varactor-Tuned

Sounds like marketing hype to me.

Not the hype -a fact. The basic engineering of an detector hasnīt change much from the beginning - AND THAT IS THE PROBLEM!!!

Come on manufacturers - give us something really new!!!!!!!!

I have both (latest models) in my possesion right now. I've came to the conclusion that the rx65 is only slighty better. The rx65 has a few extra features that are really nice but both do a great job. The 995 has a more narrow view than the rx65. I can get k band off the the side with the 65 and the 995 won't get the signal. I hope this helps. I would say choose the rx. That's the one I've decided to keep.

As you can guess, more letters and acronyms are better! I think both are identical stuff. So what can you do?

The RX65 is markedly better unit than the 995.
